KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Due to the long winter and short periods of warm weather, construction of the solar farm coming to Adair County will not be starting this year.

The over $300 million project will be located east of State Highway 3 near Troy Mills, Mo., and cover 1,400 acres toward the Kirksville Regional Airport.
Adair County Presiding Commissioner Mark Shahan says it's always good to have multiple sources of power.
With the latest update on the solar farm, we wanted to hear his reaction to the project being delayed.
"The way the weather is, I wouldn't blame them for wanting to wait and for us it'd be terrible right now if they would be starting a project such as that solar farm because of the impact on the roads," Shahan said. "We've got our road use agreement in place. It's not really going to affect us too much. We're just ready for whenever they do start."
The farm is expected to be completed by March 2025.
We will have a special report about the latest developments with the project later in May.
