NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, Gordon Hayward could be looking for a trade out of Charlotte this offseason.

The Charlotte Hornets took another step forward this season, finishing with a 43-39 record and 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. They faltered in the Play-In Tournament once again and didn’t qualify for the postseason, but the franchise has an exciting future thanks in large part to LaMelo Ball.

Despite the positive momentum forward, the team fired head coach James Borrego. But adding a new head coach is not the only job that the front office has this offseason. They also need to continue to add to this core as they attempt to break into the top 8 in the East next season.

However, according to a recent report, the Hornets might also have to find a new home for veteran forward Gordon Hayward.

"[via BR]Word has circulated amongst rival front offices that the 32-year-old swingman would be interested in a change of scenery this offseason, although a source close to Hayward told B/R he’s primarily focused on recovering from his injured foot."

Hayward has two years remaining on his current contract, which will pay him roughly $30 million per year. During his second season with the Hornets, Hayward averaged 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists on 46 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Though, he only appeared in 48 games as he battled injuries throughout the season.

Should the Hornets move forward with trading him this offseason, it could prove to be difficult. Not only because Hayward is past his prime, but also because he’s due roughly $60 million over the next two years.

There’s no question that, in a vacuum, Hayward is still a productive player that any contender could use to bolster their depth. However, at his contract number, a trade might be something that could be hard to come by for the Hornets.
