Editor,

The Altruistic Club of Canton is having our only fundraiser on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Chestnut in Canton. In lieu of our annual coffee/tea social gathering, we will be offering homemade, pre-boxed cookies for pick-up, or delivery in Canton, for $12/box. Pre-orders can be made via call or text to Sara Mathis, 309-303-9977 or Jen Kees, 309-338-1345. We request pre-orders be made and paid for by May 8, please.

Regard for and devotion to the interest of others is the definition of altruism. The Altruistic Club originated in 1894 and was organized in 1897. It was known as the Progressive Art Club and began with 14 members. Currently, we have 65 members. Our motto is ‘Not for Ourselves, But for Others’, and our true purpose is to help Fulton County residents with medical costs.

The continued support of the community, business leaders, organizations and individuals through the years has enabled The Altruistic Club to fulfill its goals. We’ve provided assistance to  individuals for medical and dental bills, prescriptions, eyeglasses, lifeline units, hearing aids and wheelchairs. Additionally, donations have been made to Graham Hospital for needed equipment.

Please stop by and pick-up some cookies for your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers on Tuesday, May 10. Help support The Altruistic Club’s worthy projects. Help us make a difference in someone’s life.

Thank you, to The Canton Daily Ledger for its support too!
