Phil Jackson has been an influential figure for the Los Angeles Lakers in the past. He has won 5 championships with the team during his two separate stints as the head coach. There's no doubt that without him coaching, the Lakers wouldn't have won those championships.

The Los Angeles Lakers fired coach Frank Vogel at the conclusion of the season, after their disastrous season where they missed the play-in tournament. It seems as though they are looking to Phil Jackson for help on who their next coach should be. Adrian Wojnarowski has recently revealed that Phil Jackson is "significantly involved" with the coaching search.

“This is very much a committee in L.A. putting together this coaching search. And one person who is certainly significantly involved in this process is Phil Jackson. He’s got a voice in this. He did last time when they hired Frank Vogel. He and Kurt Rambis, He had been somebody they had considered with the Knicks before hiring Derek Fisher in New York... They’re moving deliberately. They’re not doing seven or eight or nine candidates all at once. They’re kind of going down a list and taking their time with it. I think that process is going to take a bit.”

It remains to be seen which coach the "committee" in Los Angeles ends up agreeing to. Somebody who has been suggested by many people as a good option is former Warriors coach Mark Jackson

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Lakers get a coach that can get the best out of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It is clear that coaching wasn't the only problem for the Los Angeles Lakers this season though, and there's definitely some pressure on the front office to get a better supporting cast for their star duo. Perhaps we see the Lakers get back to championship contention next season, but with the amount of good teams in the Western Conference, it absolutely won't be easy.
