Pennsylvania lawmakers failed to override Governor Tom Wolf's carbon pricing rule, but one lawsuit is already challenging the regulation and more are expected.
On the NewsRadio KDKA Morning Show, the governor said the policy has not produced an increase in utility prices and it takes into consideration the loss of fossil fuel jobs.
“A lot of the money that would come into the regional greenhouse gas initiative would actually be money that comes from out of state.
That money would go to communities and families that are effected by any dislocation.”
Under the cap-and-trade program, owners of fossil-fuel power plants with a capacity of 25 megawatts or more must buy a credit for every ton of carbon dioxide they emit.
