Flooding impacting dam in Cavalier County

The Pembina County Water Resource District is actively working with the National Guard and Pembina County Emergency Management to stabilize a (Bourbanis) Dam in Eastern Cavalier County.
Helicopters are being used to place one-ton sandbags to help stabilize the dam.  The Cavalier County Sheriff’s Department says Highway 5 east of Langdon from Highways 1 to 32 in Pembina County is closed until further notice.

According to the Cavalier County Sheriff’s Department residents who may be impacted downstream have been notified of the situation.
According to the National Weather Service moderate to major flooding is still anticipated generally at and north of Grand Forks. The Red River in Grand Forks / East Grand Forks has crested at 45.42 feet and is slowly falling.
Oslo is holding steady at 37.5 feet….
Drayton is slowly climbing to 43.3….
Pembina is looking at a crest of 53 feet this weekend…flood stage is 39…
