BOTKINS – Pilates For Life has expanded again by relocating the Botkins studio into its own building on 314 W. State St.
When the Pilates business was last mentioned in the Sidney Daily News, its Botkins studio was located at 101 S. Mill St., with another location in New Bremen at 800 E. Monroe St. This past February, the Botkins studio was relocated to a building with more space but needed repairs and restoration.
“It was sort of a village eyesore for a while,” Greg Geis, husband of Pilates For Life owner Katie Geis and president of the Botkins Historical Society, said about the new Pilates For Life building. He said that the structure was built shortly after World War II and was used for various bars, restaurants, office space and storage over the years. The building now has fresh paint inside and out, new windows and doors and new flooring.
Since Pilates For Life was established in 2018, the number of instructors at Pilates For Life has expanded from just Katie to seven with a few more on the way by this summer once they complete training. All of the instructors have either been trained in STOTT PILATES or Katie’s own “Pilates For Life OHIO Mat – Reformer – Tower” training.
With two locations and seven instructors, 70 hours of classes are held each week with five to seven people per class. If a client is not ready to join a group, then the studios also offer private sessions with one or two clients.
Exercise equipment used in classes include a combination of Mat, Reformer and Springwall and can be completed by people of all ages.
