Over the weekend, Ball Dawgs held its third-annual senior showcase, and Syracuse basketball 2022 four-star commit Chris Bunch was among the stars at this event, according to media reports.

This all-star event, held on Sunday, May 1, at Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas, included several games, as well as a dunk contest and a 3-point shoot-out.

According to several tweets, including from Ball Dawgs, Hoop Hospitality owner Valerie Brown and scouting service Pro Insight, the 6-foot-7 Bunch proved on fire from beyond the arc, as he captured the 3-point shooting contest.

Additionally, per Brown, in a national team game, Bunch tallied 17 points as his squad emerged victorious. I’m super excited to see how well Bunch fared at this prestigious event that featured some of the best high-school prospects in the senior class.

Let’s review new national rankings for Syracuse basketball signee Chris Bunch.

From what I can tell, Bunch had a solid senior season for the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. He transferred there from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif.

In 2021-22, the Wasatch Academy was one of eight teams in the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (“NIBC”), a super league of sorts that includes independent basketball academies and other prep schools.

In Bunch’s senior stanza, the Wasatch Academy struggled during the NIBC’s 10-affair regular season, going 2-8. That being said, Bunch squared off versus some of the best high-school players around the country, and that should serve him well as he arrives on the Hill in the near future.

Bunch, a small forward, is part of a six-member 2022 class for Syracuse basketball that at the time of this writing was rated in the top-10 nationally, according to Rivals.com.

Another member of the NIBC, which is expanding to 10 groups for the 2022-23 term, is the Oak Hill Academy from Mouth of Wilson, Va. Orange 2022 four-star commit Judah Mintz, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, was one of the key stand-outs for the Oak Hill Academy in 2021-22.

Getting back to Bunch, all of the primary recruiting services place him as a four-star prospect in the 2022 cycle.

On3 just published its final national ratings for this class, and Bunch checked in at No. 73 nationwide, No. 22 at small forward and No. 3 in Utah.

When Rivals.com unveiled its last set of national rankings for 2022, Bunch was No. 84 overall and No. 23 at small forward. ESPN has him as the No. 38 small forward and the No. 4 player in Utah.

Over at 247Sports, Bunch is within the top-60 nationally, at No. 55, along with No. 16 at small forward and No. 3 in Utah.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, when I penned this piece, rated Bunch at No. 101 overall, No. 25 at small forward and No. 3 in Utah.

Last but not least, the On3 Consensus rates Bunch as the No. 62 national prospect in 2022, as well as the No. 18 small forward and the No. 3 player in Utah.

Bunch, who obtained more than 20 scholarship offers throughout his recruitment, picked the ‘Cuse over other finalists Rutgers and Mike Hopkins-led Washington.

I’m excited to see Chris Bunch don an Orange uniform. I think he will contend for extended minutes in 2022-23, and his 3-point shooting will prove pivotal given that guys like senior shooting guard Buddy Boeheim and senior forward Cole Swider have moved on to pursue professional opportunities.
