In fact, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah tweeted that Johnson was the best “value pick” in the first round. Jeremiah calculated the value of picks based on where players were ranked on his board and when they heard their names called.
Johnson was Jeremiah’s No. 9 prospect, but didn’t go to the Jets until 26th overall.
Jeremiah’s best value pick in the second round was Denver Broncos EDGE Nik Bonitto, the last selection in the round.
The best value pick in the third round was Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean, who had a first-round grade according to Jeremiah. Dean fell to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 83 overall.
Jeremiah’s best fourth-round value pick was Los Angeles Chargers running back Isaiah Spiller followed by Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell in the fifth round and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields in the sixth round.
Rounding out Jeremiah’s list was former Rutgers wide receiver Bo Melton, who went to the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round at No. 229 overall. Jeremiah had Melton ranked at No. 150 on his board.
