Wilma Peck Mays

October 22nd, 1919 - April 29th, 2022









Wilma Irene Peck Mays, 102, passed away peacefully at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg, Idaho, on Friday, April 29, 2022.

She was born on October 22, 1919, in Clyde, Idaho to Charles LaRoy Peck and May Belle Burton Peck Higgins. Wilma was raised in Clyde where she attended school in a one-room schoolhouse before attending high school in Arco. She spent all but the last few years in the Little Lost River Valley that she loved.

On May 23, 1938, she married her sweetheart, Russel Robert Mays in Blackfoot, Idaho. They made their home in the Little Lost where Wilma worked side by side with Bob on their ranch until his passing in 2006.

Wilma was always an active person and was involved in the Christian Women’s Club, Lion’s Club, the Library Board, and the CowBelles. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and riding horses.

Surviving are her children, Elaine Davies, Russell (Kayalin) Mays, Dean (Marcheta) Mays, Susan (Jeff) Lenoir; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mays, parents, May & LaRoy Peck, a sister, Velma Mays, a brother Jim Peck, son-in-law, Dewey Davies, and a grandson, Shane Eaton.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Lost River Community Center in Howe, Idaho. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93, Arco, Idaho and for one hour prior to the service at the Community Center. Interment will be in the Howe Cemetery.
