2022 MET Gala: Alicia Keys And Swizz Beatz Honors NYC With High-Fashion Looks By Ralph Lauren!
The 2022 Met Gala red carpet has commenced and celebrities are arriving in their best “gilded glamour” looks. While tonight’s theme is a celebration of American fashion, specifically the 19th century, some attendees are defining American fashion in their own way.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, who are both from New York, arrived in full Ralph Lauren looks that paid homage to their hometown.
For fashion’s biggest night out, Alicia wore a glittering silver floor-length gown, which she paired with a larger-than-life cloak embroidered with a New York City skyline. Her glam incorporated a sleek ponytail with silver angled discs and stones that decorated her swooped baby hairs.
Swizz wore a white tuxedo jacket and black pants. He accessorized the clean look with a varsity jacket embroidered with the designer’s namesake and the New York Yankees logo. He also rocked a complimenting New York Yankee fitted cap.
“We just wanted to honor New York, being able to have the Empire State represented. We’re both from New York and Ralph Lauren is also from New York,” said Alicia about the inspiration for their custom designs. "I love New York City and I’m so proud of our resilience. We’re all together.”
The singer further emphasized her deep love for New York, adding that the crowd outside of the Met Gala were yelling the lyrics to her songs “Empire State of Mind” and “City of Gods”, both New York anthems.
