PORTLAND (WGME) – This past weekend was one to remember for Maine football's Andre Miller.
His name may not have been called during the draft, but it didn't take long for an NFL team to come knocking.
After fielding several calls, Miller agreed to sign a free agent contract with the New York Giants as a receiver/tight end hybrid. He says that the Buccaneers and Panthers were among the other teams interested, but after talking with his agent and assessing the situation, New York seemed like a perfect fit.
"Once that draft was over with and the phone started ringing and I was just like, it didn't seem real,” Miller said. “I was kind of losing my words trying to talk to them on the phone. Just so thankful for the opportunity and just the fact that they wanted to bring me on and add me to the group of guys they have now. I just want to be able to contribute any way I can."
