Eagles push winning streak to six with sweep

High winds limited last week’s action for the Stratton Eagles to just a doubleheader against Springfield on Tuesday. The Eagles made the most of what little time they got on the diamond, sweeping the Longhorns 15-0 and 7-4, running their winning streak to six games and improving their record to 8-7 overall.
Stratton broke open a scoreless contest with a six-run bottom of the third in game one. They added nine more in the fourth. Cyler Notter homered and drove in four in support of Cooper Seaman, who threw a complete game two-hitter.
Game 2 saw the Eagles continue their scoring spree, getting all seven of their runs in the first two innings. Springfield threatened to make things interesting, scoring four over the next two frames, before Bex Seaman came on to nail down the save with two scoreless innings. Dawson Thompson earned the win after giving up two earned runs in two-plus innings.
Stratton was scheduled to face Byers on Friday, but the high winds forced the cancellation of that contest. The Eagles hosted Burlington on Tuesday, in the makeup of their season-opener that was postponed because of weather.
They will travel to Las Animas for a contest with La Veta on Thursday and then wrap up the regular season with a home game against Simla on Friday. With the district quarterfinals slated for next Tuesday, rescheduling the matchup with Byers will be a challenge.
