PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Florida Congresswoman and Senate candidate. Val Demings made a campaign stop in Pensacola late Saturday afternoon.
Before being elected to congress Demings was Orlando's first female Police Chief.
She's a Democrat running for the Senate seat now held by Republican Marco Rubio.
So far, Demings has raised more than $30-million dollars for her campaign.
Rubio's campaign treasure chest is slightly behind that, according to the latest financial reports.
Demings told a crowd of supporters she was the best candidate for the job.
"While we are working to create environments inductive to learning for our children, learning for America's future, let's make sure that we pay our teachers what they are worth," Demings said.
Demings says she plans to make more stops in Northwest Florida before the November elections.
