Blue Jackets: Patrik Laine says both parties are in general agreement on a new contract

Patrik Laine sounded Saturday like a guy who wanted to make a deal on a longer term contract with the Blue Jackets, who he served with a point a game during the 2021-'22 season. 56 points in 56 games.

Laine missed games due to injury and was away following the death of his father on Nov. 21st.
"I don't think it should be an issue, you know?" Laine said. "They have expressed they want me here. I've said the same thing. So, you know, the feeling is mutual. Just figure out the term and the money and all that, and I think we should be fine."
The forward can become a restricted free agent July 13. He told reporters during exit interviews it was "fun coming to the rink every day."
