Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals paid tribute to the late Shane Warne on Saturday night in touching fashion.

Warne, who passed away in March following a heart attack, guided the Royals to IPL glory during the tournament's inaugural season in 2008.

The legendary spinner will forever hold a place in the club's heart and they paid tribute to him by wearing jerseys with the number 23 on the collar during a match against Mumbai Indians.

A minute's applause was also held prior to the game, while a section of the stadium was also turned into a Warne tribute gallery.

Unfortunately, the Royals were unable to triumph on the night as they suffered a five-wicket defeat to Mumbai.

Warne spent four years with Rajasthan, who have failed to lift the IPL title since their fairytale first season which saw Warne coach and captain the side.

Ashok Menaria played under Warne for two seasons at the Royals and recently revealed the Australian's unique approach to dsicipline.

"He did things in his own unique way and the pink doll was one of them. If you have failed to reach on time for training or you were late to board the team bus or any other failure on the discipline part invited punishment in the form of holding a pink doll," Menaria told Times of India.

"A player had to hold it at the airport, at the ground and literally everywhere. It was really embarrassing.

"But this helped the team become particular about following the rules. Warne made all of us disciplined."

The Royals are currently sitting second in the IPL this season with six wins from their first nine games.
