The Jimmy Griffin Classic Showcase softball event is being played at Middletown North on Saturday.
No. 20 Red Bank Catholic 11, Howell 1
Lily Hagan allowed one run, unearned, on three hits and five walks with six strikeouts as Red Bank Catholic, No. 20 in the NJ.com Top 20, was an 11-1 winner over Howell in five innings.
Nicole Knox, Morgan O’Sullivan, Bella Hurta and Amelia Santos each had two hits while Hagan homered and drove in three runs in the win, which lifted Red Bank Catholic to 14-2 as the team won its third in a row and will host Ocean Township on Monday.
Howell (6-9) will go to Manalapan on Monday.
Marlboro 14, Colts Neck 3
No. 12 Livingston 4, Middletown North 0
Caitlin Mullen pitched a two-hitter with 17 strikeouts and no walks for Livingston, No. 12 in the NJ.com Top 20, in its 4-0 win over Middletown North in the Jimmy Griffin Classic Showcase in Middletown.
Guilia Wilson went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI in the victory. Livingston scored two runs in the first and third innings.
Jackson Memorial 11, Matawan 0
Amanda Amerman tossed a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead Jackson Memorial past Matawan in Jackson.
Brianna Halasnik went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored, while Nina Striano and Haley Alexander each had two hits and two runs to help Jackson improve to 11-4.
Chloe Montalvo had two hits for Matawan (7-7).
Manalapan 7, Pinelands 3
Sophie Sklar went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs for Manalapan, which built a 7-0 lead after four innings and held on for the win.
Mary Kovaleski added two hits and two runs and Jillian Giannotto allowed three runs on six hits to earn the win as Manalapan improved to 5-8.
Elianna Meola had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run for Pinelands (6-8).
