When Saints called Jordan Jackson on draft day, he thought it was a prank

Jordan Jackson's phone rang on Saturday afternoon. It was a 504 number. Saints Assistant GM Jeff Ireland was on the line.

But the big DT out of Air Force had a reaction the team probably didn't expect: He thought it was a prank, and that's what he told his family.

Ultimately the Saints were able to convince Jackson their identity was indeed legitimate, and he became the newest member of the Saints with the No. 194 selection in the 6th round, the team's final scheduled pick of the day.

“As we started talking more I was like, wait this is actually the real thing,” Jackson said, adding on WWL that he did expect to get drafted just didn't know when or where. "... I’m just so happy right now. I can’t believe it.”

Jackson said he played both interior and edge positions in college, and he could do both at the pro level. It'll come down to whatever the Saints need. Jackson is listed at 6-foot-4, 294 pounds.

How he describes himself as a player: “High motor guy. Always ready to work. Down in, down out always there, reliable. Fast, athletic. Just somebody who’s always there ready to play.”
