Another round of cuts hit the NXT roster.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported the news on Friday, providing insight into the individuals that were cut. Dakota Kai and Malcolm Bivens were among the first names mentioned.

Kai was a long-standing member of the NXT women’s division. As a part of that group, she was a two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, both with Raquel Rodriguez. Neither of those tenures as champion lasted more than four days.

Kai was last seen losing to Mandy Rose on WWE NXT on April 12 in a match for the NXT Women’s Championship. She had also appeared in dark matches for WWE SmackDown, which led many to believe she was in line to be called up to the WWE main roster.

Bivens was another fan favorite, often leveraged as a mouthpiece for members of the talent. He was the manager of Diamond Mine. In the year since this group was created and premiered all the initial or planned members were cut from the roster. Tyler Rust, Arturo Ruas, Hideki Suzuki, Marina Shafir, and now Bivens are gone, leaving only Ivy Nile and the Creed Brothers.

Bivens was also the early manager for Veer Mahaan when he was in a tag team in NXT. Sapp also tweeted that WWE offered Bivens an extension, which he turned down.

Bivens took to social media to offer his insight.

Additional names were released by the WWE:

  • Dexter Lumis
  • Harland
  • Blair Baldwin
  • Persia Pirotta
  • Draco Anthony
  • Raelyn Divine
  • Mila Malani
  • Sanjana George

Since the start of the Covid-19 global pandemic, the WWE has recently a growing number of wrestlers on a periodic basis. These wrestlers include names like Keith Lee, Braun Strowman, Ember Moon, and Mia Yim. These cuts are usually attributed to budget cuts.
