Britain's Ethan Hayter claimed victory in stage two of the Tour de Romandie to make it two wins in three days - but Rohan Dennis still leads the race.

Hayter, 23, won the prologue before losing the leader's jersey to Dennis after crashing on stage one.

He put a finger to his lips after sprinting to victory in the 168.2km second stage, saying it was in response to his "comeback" after the crash.

"It was probably my nicest win," said the Ineos Grenadiers rider.

"I rode my way into the stage but the team were amazing."

Hayter finished a bike length clear of Jon Aberasturi (Trek-Segafredo) but is 107th overall, more than 14 minutes adrift of Jumbo-Visma rider Dennis.

Australian Dennis finished safely in the pack on the stage, which started and finished in Echallens.

He leads Felix Grossschartner of Bora-Hansgrohe by 14 seconds.

Hayter's Ineos team-mate Geraint Thomas - the defending champion - is 24th, 34 seconds off the lead.
