CCS golfers heading to SPVA

The Chase County golf team placed seventh at the Perkins County Invite April 19.
PCS placed second in the team race and had the top individual.
North Platte St. Pat’s, last year’s Class D state champion, placed first and had three golfers in the top five individuals.
The Longhorns didn’t have any individuals in the top 15.    Longhorns’ Assistant Coach Vanessa Taylor said the PCS meet was a tough day with the weather.
“We’ve had a lot of days of wind this season, both in practice and in competition, but it doesn’t seem to get any easier! Gavin (Wisnieski) and Kaden (Vogt) both carded decent rounds in the 100s, and I was really proud of them for toughing it out and trying to remain optimistic even with the weather,” Taylor said.
Thursday the CCS JV team traveled to Cambridge for the Southwest Invite.
“The Cambridge meet was a great experience for our JV players, some of whom haven’t travelled to a meet yet this year,” Taylor said.
“I was glad that our JV players had the opportunity to attend this smaller meet and get some experience in,” she added.
The team will head to Kimball Friday for the SPVA Conference tournament.
“We are definitely looking forward to SPVA this week in Kimball. It is a course that none of the players have seen before in competition, but we are looking forward to a new challenge! As always, the younger players continue to look to our seniors for guidance and advice and I am always happy to see their leadership on the course,” Taylor said.
