Penn State WR Coach Taylor Stubblefield Releases Statement on Jahn Dotson’s Selection to Washington

Less than an hour after Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson officially went to the Washington Commanders with the 16th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, his wide receivers coach, Taylor Stubblefield, released a statement to Twitter.

As one would expect, Stubblefield expressed enthusiasm.

I am incredibly happy for Jahan and this opportunity he is getting with the Washington Commanders,” Stubblefield wrote. Jahan has worked his tail off to be in the position he’s in right now. He believed in the process, he believed in the program, he trusted Coach (James) Franklin and he trusted myself. He made the most of every single one of his opportunities.”

Stubblefield– who coached Dotson for his last two seasons in Happy Valley– noted Dotson’s decision to stay at Penn State after a breakout season in 2020.

“Jahan had an opportunity to leave after his third year, but he wanted to come back and play for his brothers and also improve his draft status, which I believe he has done. He will truly be one of the best receivers to ever play at Penn State.

Dotson is the fourth Penn State receiver to go in the first round, joining Kenny Jackson (1984), O.J. McDuffie (1993) and Bryant Johnson (2003). Of the other three, only Jackson (picked fourth by the Philadelphia Eagles) was drafted higher than Dotson was Thursday night.
