Former Chicago Fire star Jesse Spencer is set to make his return to the NBC drama for its season 10 finale.
Spencer exited the show back in October, during its 200th episode, after his character Captain Matthew Casey made the decision to move to Oregon and raise his late best friend Andy Darden's young boys.
Since then, according to co-showrunner Derek Haas, the show's bosses have been trying every which way to get him back on set for the finale.

"We pretty much begged him, pleaded and offered him the moon so that he would come back and do the finale. But he’s the greatest and he was in even before we started all of that," said Haas (via TVLine).
"The character pledged he would be best man at Severide's wedding. We're so grateful to [Jesse] that he would come back and honour that pledge."
According to co-showrunner Andrea Newman, his return will also come at a "critical" moment for his relationship with his girlfriend Brett, who had been away visiting him in Oregon as of late.
As Casey has remained "very happy and content" with his life in Oregon, the only "question mark" left will be his long-distance relationship.

Spencer is one of the show's original stars that has been on the firefighter drama since its pilot episode in 2012, and was one of only six remaining from its first season.
Currently, the cast and crew have not yet begun filming the season finale. However, according to Newman, everyone on set has been buzzing with anticipation over the return of Spencer as Casey.
"I can tell you that everybody is dying to see Jesse. I am dying to see Jesse," confirmed Newman. "It's going to be a very beautiful thing on the set to see that face up here. We're all excited about it. I'm going to cry, I'll tell you that."
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med air on NBC and Peacock in the US, and on Sky Witness in the UK.
