Announcing Child Care Provider Appreciation Day Friday, May 6

The Early Childhood Council for Yuma, Washington, and Kit Carson counties (ECCYWK) is joining child care organizations nationwide to celebrate Provider Appreciation Day on Friday, May 6.
Provider Appreciation Day is the Friday before Mother’s Day and has been recognized since 1996.
This is a special day to acknowledge and celebrate our family child care providers, and our early education teachers in pre-schools/centers and after school programs who nurture, teach, and care for children in our communities.
Child Care Provider Appreciation Day gives us an opportunity to recognize our child care providers who care for children every day so parents can work.
There are many budget friendly ways a parent, grandparent or business can show a provider their appreciation.
Send them a handwritten thank you card, give them a gift certificate for a meal at a local restaurant, or give them flowers to plant in their garden.
Today’s child care and early education providers are our unsung heroes.
The child care profession is the most underpaid and underappreciated occupations, yet child care is the most important infrastructure for working parents in Northeast Colorado. Child care is an essential service that deserves recognition.
We are encouraging parents, grandparents, and employers to take this day to show child care providers how much they appreciate them.
The ECCYWK is funded by the state of Colorado Department of Human Ser-vices Early Care and Learning, Buell Foundation, Anschutz Foundation, Quick Foundation, Colorado Health Foundation, Yu-ma County Human Ser-vices, Kit Carson County Human Services, and Washington County Human Services.
