The Genuine, a new Phoenix restaurant concept, debuts in former Vig Uptown space

Apr 28, 2022, 1:00 PM

PHOENIX – Four months after The Vig Uptown went dark so it could undergo a transformation, The Genuine is debuting at the Phoenix site on Thursday.

Genuine Concepts closed The Vig on 16th Street just north of Bethany Home Road in December and began the process of creating a flagship concept for the restaurant group.

Renovations included the installation of a Forno Bravo wood-fired oven, the centerpiece of Chef Jeremy Pacheco’s new offerings.

The lunch and dinner menus posted online include various charcuterie boards, salads, small plates and pizzas.

The Genuine also offers chicken, fish and beef entrees and a selection of fire-roasted vegetables.

The bar menu features craft cocktails and a selection of beer and wine.

Reservations for The Genuine can be made at Open Table.

The Vig had been in the space since 2010. The building was originally a mid-century bank designed by noted Phoenix architect Ralph Haver. The bank vault became the restaurant’s back bar.

In addition to four remaining The Vig locations, Genuine Concepts operates The Little Woody, The Womack, Ladera Taverna y Cocina, The McMillan and Campo Italian Bistro & Bar.
