If you've ever grappled with the complex world of foundations, questioning how much you should apply and what blending tools to use or driving yourself insane searching for a proper shade match, you're not alone. Even celebrities like actress Samara Weaving face their fair share of struggles with base products, a tidbit the Nine Perfect Strangers star revealed in a new YouTube video for Vogue.
"I don’t use foundation," she revealed. "I wish I knew how to do it but for the life of me I don't know if I put too much on, I don't know if I put too little on."
Instead, the star takes a different approach to achieve her signature, flawless base, layering two strategically-placed concealers to brighten the skin and cover imperfections. She starts by dabbing Kosas' Revealer Concealer concealer atop her blemishes, blending it out while concentrating the product on her "problem areas."

"I just kind of pat it like where I see spots," she explained while applying the product. "It's quite light and I don't need too much coverage today."
After applying her blush –– her rouge of choice is Milk Makeup's Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Stick, which is also a personal favorite of OK!'s editors –– she then cleans up any remaining redness or imperfections with a second concealer, Hourglass' Vanish Airbrush Concealer.

"I can just notice that there are some little bits poking through," she said before blending the product alongside the sides of her nose and under her eyes.
Though unconventional, it seems Weaving may be onto something with this technique. Makeup artist Robert Sesnek noted that he too often opts for spot treatments instead of all over foundation.
"I use just concealer to even out the skin with a lot of clients," Sesnek told Allure in 2020. "I find that depending on the [skin] concerns, spot-treating with concealer is a great way to let the skin breathe and use much smaller amounts of product versus fuller-coverage foundation that isn't always necessary."
