To help us answer some of these questions in time for Mother’s Day, we’ve called upon Paris Hilton, who tells Vogue that her mom Kathy Hilton (seen lounging at the Vanity Fair Oscars party last month in the season’s shade of head-to-toe pink) has offered a lifetime of shopping inspiration. “My sister and I got our love for fashion and beauty from our mom,” says Paris, who admits that since she and sister Nicky Hilton Rothschild were kids, Kathy’s style brought them together. “We have always loved playing dress-up in her wardrobe and borrowing items from her closet,” says Paris.
Now, Kathy and Paris share a virtual mother-daughter fitting room, too. “We send each other images of outfits that we know will look good on the other!” Paris enthuses. “I love experimenting and am definitely a little more adventurous than my mom when it comes to fashion,” she says. This year, Paris plans to send Kathy a remix of her tried-and-true gift. “My mom loves flowers and constantly switches them up,” she says. “My favorite gift to her has to be Venus Et Fleur arrangements—they last for over a year and smell amazing!”
When gifting her inner circle, Paris adds a personal touch: “I especially love making cards and art pieces and collages for my husband,” she says. This Mother’s Day, though, provides an opportunity to celebrate all caretakers-–from friends who’ve had their own kids (and seen it all) to family members from every direction. “I am celebrating my sister Nicky who is an amazing mom!” says Paris, adding that her sister-in-laws Tessa Hilton and Halle Hammond are on her list. “Being a newlywed, I am also celebrating my husband’s mother, who has given me such a wonderful husband and life partner,” she says.
