Knox College announces author Walter Mosley as 2022 commencement speaker

Knox College announced on Tuesday that acclaimed writer Walter Mosley will give the college’s 2022 commencement address.

Mosley has authored more than 60 critically acclaimed books, including a series of novels featuring the detective Easy Rawlins. Mosley also won oman an Edgar Award for Best Novel for, “Down the River and Unto the Sea.”

Several of his books have been adapted for film and television, including Devil in a Blue Dress, starring Denzel Washington and the HBO production of Always Outnumbered.

His adaptation of his novel The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey is currently running on Apple TV+, starring Samuel L. Jackson.

Mosley’s received many awards throughout his career, including an induction into the New York State Writers Hall of Fame.

He’s won an O. Henry Award, The Mystery Writers of America’s Grand Master Award, a Grammy®, several NAACP Image awards, and PEN America’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Adding to those honors will be an honorary degree from Knox College when he delivers the commencement address on Sunday June 5th at 10 a.m. on the South Lawn of Old Main.
