Mineral County candidate forums planned for May

The Mineral County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Regis Community Council are hosting three forums for voters to hear the candidates running for office. The dates and locations are as follows:

• Wednesday, May 4 - Superior - High School Multi-purpose Room

• Thursday, May 5 - St. Regis - St. Regis Senior Center

• Monday, May 9 - Alberton – Alberton School Cafeteria

All forums start at 7 p.m. - doors open at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Questions are being sent out that will be asked the night of the forums via email so that candidates can prepare these answers in advance. Also, each audience member will be able to submit written questions during the event. These questions will be screened by a neutral committee during the intermission to ensure that the questions are applicable to candidates for the specified office and are not personal in nature. These questions will be asked during the second half of each forum by the moderator. Specified time limits will be assigned to each response.

• House District 14: Rep. Denley Loge, incumbent; and Randy Mitchell

• Mineral County Sheriff: Wayne Cashman, Ryan Funke, Gretchen Webb (I). Webb is running as an Independent after obtaining enough signatures for her name to be included on the ballot in the November election. She will be running against the winner of the primary election.

• Mineral County Treasurer: Merry Mueller and Jill Betts
