GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) – U.S. Representative Jack Bergman changed his endorsement in the GOP primary race for governor.
Representative Bergman was in Traverse City today endorsing Republican candidate Perry Johnson.
Bergman had originally supported former Detroit police officer James Craig, but says he is switching his endorsement because Craig didn't campaign enough in northern Michigan.
“We need candidates who are running statewide races to be all over the state. not just in Detroit, not just in Grand Rapids, not just in Lansing, because up here, people vote,” Bergman said. “We want to know our candidates; we want to know those candidates understand who we are as northern Michiganders and as Yoopers.”
Perry Johnson is one of 10 other republicans running for Michigan Governor
The primary is in August.
