ROCKFORD — The Rockford Public is joining libraries across the state to host “Parks and Recreation” star and best-selling author Nick Offerman for a live conversation about his new book.

The public event will be streamed on RPL’s website at 7 p.m., Wednesday.

Joining Offerman will be his hiking partner, Jeff Tweedy, leader of the band Wilco. Together, Offerman and Tweedy will discuss Offerman’s new book, “Where the Deer and the Antelope Play: The Pastoral Observations of One Ignorant American Who Loves to Walk Outside.”

Tweedy inspired Offerman to use their hikes and conversations in nature to write his latest book, his fourth with Penguin Random House. His other titles include “Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living,” “Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America's Gutsiest Troublemakers,” and “Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop.”
