Contribute unused medical supplies to Project C.U.R.E.

After putting out the word about Project C.U.R.E., Burlington Rotary Club members indicated the Burlington and Cheyenne Wells communities responded quickly to support the call for unneeded medical equipment and supplies which are still usable and in good shape.

Red totes with the Project C.U.R.E. logo are placed at Kit Carson County Health and Human Services, Medical Clinic, Parke Health Center, Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital, Barnes Chiropractic, Grace Manor Care Center and Spices on the Green in Burlington and at Keefe Memorial Hospital and Cheyenne Manor in Cheyenne Wells.

Contributions to the boxes may include anything from unused over the counter drugs, bandages and thermometers to larger items like blood pressure equipment, oxygen machines, crutches, knee braces, wheelchairs and hospital beds. Any medical supplies or equipment no longer needed but still usable in a hospital or clinic setting is accepted.

Project C.U.R.E. is a nonprofit organization billed as the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies and equipment and is headquartered in Centennial.

The organization works with hospitals and medical manufacturers in the United States to gather excess medical supplies like suture kits, gowns and scalpels, previous-generation equipment, dental chairs, lab and diagnostic equipment to ship to developing countries around the world.

With assistance from global partners, these supplies are matched up with healthcare facilities in developing countries where basic supplies and modern equipment are unavailable or unaffordable.

Medical supplies and equipment are packed into cargo containers and shipped to at least 53 countries.

Project C.U.R.E. operates nine collection centers across the country and distribution centers in Colorado, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Arizona.

To donate large items that will not fit in the collection tubs, please contact John Buol at (719) 349-7072.
