Semi driver dies in rollover crash after severe crosswind lifts trailer off roadway

The Texas Department of Public Safety released information about a semi rollover crash in Oldham County early Saturday which left one dead.   

According to a news release, at approximately 8 a.m., a 2018 Freightliner towing a semi-trailer, driven by Singh Bahadur, 34, of Manteca, California, was eastbound on Interstate 40 about seven miles east of Adrian. Due to a severe crosswind, the trailer began to lift off of the roadway.

As the semi's driver attempted to get the trailer back onto its wheels, the semi traveled into the center median and rolled over onto its left side. Bahadur, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected.

Bahadur died on the scene. He was pronounced deceased by Oldham County Justice of the Peace Kristy O’Malley.

The roads were dry with high winds at the time of the crash. The posted speed limit was 75 mph. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.
