Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel is the team's nominee for the 2022 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
The Professional Hockey Writers' Association announced the nominees from all 32 teams, each submitted from the organization's local chapters.
The Masterton Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to the game."
In the announcement, Eichel is credited with showing perseverance and dedication for returning to play after an 11-month absence.
He is also recognized for standing his ground to receive an artificial disc replacement surgery, setting an example for other players and their medical rights.
Vegas acquired Eichel in a trade with Buffalo last fall, sending Peyton Krebs, Alex Tuch and two draft picks to the Sabres. He made his first appearance with the Golden Knights on Feb. 16.
