Kimball Lake is now dry at Wildwood Resort City on the Hardin/Tyler County line, and a breach had only a minor impact on residents, according to Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel.
McDaniel and Sheriff Mark Davis spoke with KFDM on Sunday night after a breach developed on the lake side at Wildwood Resort City due to a structural issue. The spillway side remained intact.
They say officials became aware of a structural problem a few days ago and began draining the lake. It was already lower than usual due to the lack of rain.
The water flowing into Kimball Creek and Village Creek impacted one to two homes.
Judge McDaniel says the when the water began flowing out of the breach on Kimball Lake, it was not coming out at a fast rate downstream. Effects downstream should be minimal.
Hardin and Tyler County Emergency Management monitored the situation overnight Sunday into Monday.
The breach will be repaired.
