F1 News: Mick Schumacher Is Doing His Dad Proud – “Everyone Loves Him”

After two years of racing alongside Nikita Mazepin at Haas, Mick Schumacher is finally able to compare his skills behind the wheel of an F1 car to an experienced driver, Kevin Magnussen. The Danish driver returned to the American-owned team after Haas cut ties with its Russian sponsor and driver, and now he’s working on forming a strong relationship between himself and Mick.

Mick is known to be an incredibly modest but hard-working driver, and K Mag has told the press that Mick is wanting to learn more from him as a teammate.

“He’s a super nice guy, very friendly, very polite, and he’s good with everyone, everyone loves him. He is also very curious and asks a lot of questions. This kind of communication between teammates is rare in Formula 1,” Magnusson told Motorsport.com

“Some drivers are too proud, some do not want to share information, and some are afraid to show weakness. However, Mick doesn’t even care. He just wants to learn,” he adds to the glowing report of him teammate.

It’s been a day of teammates showing their love for each other after Lewis Hamilton’s new teammate George Russell showered the 7-time world champion with respect in a recent interview.

“There is no number one or number two at Mercedes, but at the back of all drivers’ minds, they’re fighting for that top leadership spot, like, ‘I want to be the one’,” said Russell.

“Whereas for both of us, there isn’t that because Lewis has been here for so long, I’m the new kid within the team.

“I’m not going to go out there trying to be the leader of the team, when I’m going up against the greatest of all time who’s been here for 10 years.

“He is the captain of the team, and that’s how it should be.”

With Imola this weekend, we’re bound to see more competition between not only Red Bull and Ferrari who will likely line the front of the grid, but between Mercedes’ Russell and Hamilton. Boy, what an exciting weekend it will be. 2022 is turning into a great season.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
