Vikings Hold Off Lake Quinault Rally in Win

Playing just its fifth game of the season, the Mossyrock baseball team got out ahead and held off a late rally from Lake Quinault in a 13-8 victory at home Friday.

The Vikings (3-2, 3-0 1B CVL) remain perfect in league play with the win, with Gunner Mulligan pitching four innings, striking out seven with just two earned runs to pick up the win. Jake Comer came in relief to pitch the final two innings to record the save with two strikeouts.

At the plate, the Vikings had a field day, with six players recording multiple hits, led by Comer’s two hits with a triple and Easton Kolb’s four RBIs.

“I was proud of my team for coming ready to play today,” Vikings coach Darren Kolb said. “Everyone got some playing time and it made the game interesting at the end, but we got it done.”

The Vikings now look forward to five games next week as they try to squeeze in games that they missed as a result of rainouts over the past several weeks.
