2 hospitalized after 3-vehicle I-70 crash in blowing dust

THOMAS COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just before 2:30p.m. Friday in Thomas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Hyundai Accent driven by Joan Harkless, 53, Greeley, Colorado, was westbound on Interstate 70 five miles west of Colby.

 When visibility dropped to zero due to blowing dust, the Hyundai rear-ended a  2017 Freightliner truck driven by Angel A. Ramirez, 26, Perris, California. Both vehicles came to stop on the highway.

A 2017 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jee W. Bae, 24, Lincolnwood, Illinois,  rear-ended the Hyundai Accent.

EMS transported Harkless and a passenger in the Accent Rory T. Harkless, 68, Greeley, Colorado, to the hospital in Colby. The other drivers were not injured. All four were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
