UPDATE (6:46 p.m.): Detectives have located the suspect and vehicle involved in California.
In an update, police say California Highway Patrol took the driver into custody earlier this afternoon near Baker, California.
LVMPD detectives are en route to California to conduct a follow-up investigation, they say.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.
ORIGINAL (12:15 p.m.): A Las Vegas police officer was struck by a vehicle that was put into reverse during a traffic stop downtown Friday, according to authorities.
The crash was reported around 11:16 a.m. near northbound I-15 and northbound U.S. 95, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The vehicle was put in reverse and hit the officer before taking off.
Police say the officer was taken to UMC as a precaution, but no other details were provided.
Drivers are asked to expect delays in the area while LVMPD investigates.
