The double murder trial of YNW Melly, a Florida rapper whose legal name is Jamell Demons, is set to get underway in Fort Lauderdale with jury selection.

Melly, of Vero Beach, is accused of killing two close friends on Oct. 26, 2018.

Investigators said Melly tried to make it appear as if the murder victims, 19-year-old Christopher Thomas and 21-year-old Anthony Williams, were killed in a drive-by shooting.

Authorities arrested Melly and a second suspect, Cortlen Henry, about four months after the killings.

Melly, who turns 23 on May 1, faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.
