The Pennsylvania primary elections are less than one month away and the race for the open Senate seat is heating up. Current Senator Pat Toomey is not seeking reelection. Republican Senate hopeful David McCormick held a rally in Montour County tonight with former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Pompeo, who endorsed McCormick back in April, called his fellow West Point grad a true patriot who would best serve the people of Pennsylvania in Washington.
"Whether it's making sure that everybody has the right to the firearms they want, whether it's protecting the unborn, whether it's doing everything within his power to make sure that we don't have to send our young boys and girls to fight in a distant place because we lost the ability to demonstrate American leadership and deter people like Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping, you should know that Dave is the United States Senator that will do that for you, each and every day," said Mike Pompeo,
McCormick said he can will use his military and business experience on day one to fight for what's important to Pennsylvanians by combating inflation, ramping up domestic energy production, and securing our borders.
"Everywhere I go, I say what are your top three issues, they're border, border, border, and why? Because we have a Fentanyl crisis. We've lost 5000 Pennsylvanians last year to fentanyl overdose. We have huge addiction problems. We have huge rehabilitation problems, it's the worst in the country, and it's getting even worse because of Joe Biden's open border," said David McCormick.
"That fentanyl comes across the border, two days later, it's in the northeast, it finds its way into our communities, it's the crime. The crime we see in Philadelphia, a sanctuary city, the crime we see in all of cities moving to the suburbs, that crime is a direct result, not only of bad border policies, but also an ideology of defunding the police and not respecting those who wear the uniform," said McCormick.
McCormick is one of seven contenders in the Senate race. According to the latest Franklin and Marshall Poll, McCormick is second in the race with 15% of the vote, just behind Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was recently endorsed by former President Donald Trump, with 16% of the vote. That poll shows that 49% of Republican voters are still undecided.
The Pennsylvania primary elections are May 17th.
