YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE – Utah pop culture met the mainstream once again on April 17 when Donny Osmond surprised Jennifer Garner for her 50th birthday.
Garner, who has admitted in the past that she was a childhood Donny Osmond fan, was out to lunch with her friends when she was given a video to watch with Osmond singing to her on her special day. Milliseconds later, that same voice began singing — this time, in person.
"Jennifer, it's your birthday. Time to celebrate and sing about who? You!" Osmond sang to Garner before the two embraced and then sang a rendition of "Make the World Go Away."
"My first (pre)birthday surprise was a doozy — the one and only, legend in his own time, object of my childhood adoration and devotion — @donnyosmond showed up to knock my purple socks off," Garner wrote in an Instagram post. "He took an hour and a half of his day to sit with me, sing my favorites, and to give me a master class on how to be a class act."
Garner then thanked Osmond, gave a shout-out to his sister Marie Osmond and wife Debbie Osmond who she said she would love to meet someday.
Now, this wasn't the first time Donny Osmond and Garner had met, however. In fact, Garner met Osmond on the "Donny and Marie" show as a guest during her time on the late '90s series "Time of your Life," where Garner admitted to being a fan of both Donny and Marie — even receiving an album of the duo from her mother as a reward for not sucking her thumb as a child. This admittance was awarded with a Donny doll complete with purple jumpsuit and all.
While the most recent meeting on Garner's 50th birthday wasn't the first, we have a suspicion that it may not be the last, either.
