A WWE Hall of Famer who was all about America during his time in the ring made a visit to America’s Hometown on Tuesday, as “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and his wife Debra visited Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Duggan made several posts on his official Facebook page over the past few days, showing the Duggans out to eat and visiting friends in Massachusetts. On Tuesday, they were in Plymouth – presumably for the first time, since they took every touristy photo you’d expect.

In the late 1980s, “Hacksaw” was one of the biggest babyfaces, or “good guys,” in the then-WWF. He had memorable feuds with Harley Race, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Dino Bravo and many more.

Duggan always came to the ring with his trusty wooden 2x4 and usually with an American flag as well, leading the crowd in chats of “USA! USA! USA!” and portraying the ultimate blue-collar, Patriot American everyman. His signature catchphrase was a simple shout of “Hooooooooooo!” with a big thumbs-up gesture, and he frequently called opponents “tough guy” as a way to get under their skin.

On Tuesday, the Duggans visited Lobster Hut for some fresh seafood with their friend “Dr. Marty,” before taking in some of the other sights around downtown Plymouth.

Of course, we don’t have the heart to tell them that it’s not actually the rock that the Pilgrims first stepped foot on in Plymouth, if they even stepped foot on a rock at all. We don’t want to ruin the Duggans’ fun.

Naturally, they made the short walk over to the Mayflower II, and their timing was impeccable, as the ship just returned to Plymouth Harbor last week.

Duggan was scheduled to come to Massachusetts to take part in an MWF wrestling event, but that event was canceled after promoter Dan Mirade passed away unexpectedly last month. Duggan has had his own health issues in recent years – last fall he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but announced in December of last year that he was cancer-free following surgery. He also battled kidney cancer in the early 2000s.

Duggan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.

Wrestling is a big part of the SouthCoast and southeastern Massachusetts as of late, with Westport's Ted Bolduc and Fairhaven's Bobby Cruise recently making appearances with All Elite Wrestling, and multiple women with SouthCoast connections taking part in this year's Wrestlemania events.
