In Loving Memory of Magin Eloy Martinez

Magin Eloy Martinez unsaddled for the last time on April 8, 2022, in his family home with family.  Magin was born August 14, 1927, in Sabino, NM to Nicholas and Ernestine Martinez.  The fifth of eleven children, Magin learned hard work from a young age, herding sheep with his brother Jesus at just 9 years old.  He soon learned his love of horses and all things cowboy.  He broke over 500 heads of broncs in his lifetime.  Two weeks after his 18th birthday, he was drafted into the US Air Force where he served for three years.  His love of rodeo was deep and something that he passed on to his daughter Sherie and son Robin and his grandson Magin.  He worked both ends of the arena, riding saddle broncs, calf roping, and team roping.  He had a love for the local community where he served as County Commissioner and retired as a bus driver for Roy ISD.  Some of his last days were spent on the ranch he owned, the very one he herded sheep on as a child.  He married his wife of 67 years, Dolores Taylor in 1954.  His memory lives on with wife his Dolores Martinez of Roy, NM, his daughter Sherie Montoya and her husband Michael Montoya of Roy.  His son Robin Martinez and his wife Brenda of Weatherford, TX, and his four grandchildren, Mycca, Magin, Alyssa, and Ryan.

Services will be held on May 14, 2022, at the Baptist Church in Roy, NM.  Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund,
