THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Headwriter Previews Diane’s Next Move!

Diane’s return from the dead was quite a shock for Jack, but now that she’s back in Genoa City, there are plenty of other people who are going to have their own reactions to the news of her resurrection! And THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS headwriter can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store as the storyline continues to unfold.

“On one hand, Nikki will be, ‘Oh, thank God I never killed her,’” he noted to Soap Opera Digest. “But on the other hand, ‘Now I want to kill her!’ We’re doing a slow simmer on that side that will be building because we have two great players in Susan [Walters, Diane] and Mel [Thomas Scott, Nikki] that will make all this fantastic.”

So even though Diane reached out to contact Jack and returned to Genoa City to reunite with her son, Kyle, the character is connected to more than just the Abbotts. “I love when stories cross over because then it’s a story about the town,” the scribe explained. “That’s the great thing about Susan, her Diane has so much history with the Abbotts and Newmans. Victor will have some choice words for Diane when he finds out she’s alive.

“She’s coming in saying ‘I know everybody hates me but I’ve got to silence that noise because all I care about is making amends with my son,’” Griffith previewed. “But silencing the noise and making amends with Kyle will be easier said than done.”

Because despite all Diane’s claims that she’s a changed woman and just misses her son, is that really true? “It’ll be interesting,” he teased, “because Diane is sincere when it comes to Kyle, but has she shed that skin, and is she really reformed? We hope so, but you never know!”
