Milwaukee Brewers designated hitter Keston Hiura is greeted in the dugout after hitting a three-run home run in the seventh inning Wedneday afternoon.

The first series sweep of the season is officially in the books.

Led by a strong six-inning outing from Brandon Woodruff and home runs by Rowdy Tellez and Keston Hiura, the Milwaukee Brewers downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-2, on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field.

Woodruff struck out a season-high nine batters while allowing only one hit and a pair of walks with Tellez hitting a solo shot in the second and Hiura the decisive three-run shot in the seventh as the Brewers won their fourth straight game overall.

Milwaukee was still riding the momentum of Hiura's homer when Pittsburgh quickly got a pair of baserunners on with two outs in the eighth, a development that led manager Craig Counsell to pull Brent Suter in favor of Devin Williams with Bryan Reynolds due up.

Reynolds, who'd struck out three times on the day, worked a walk and Ke'Bryan Hayes followed with a two-run single to left field to break up the shutout and cut Milwaukee's lead in half at 4-2.

Williams eventually recovered to strike out Yoshi Tsutsugo, and Josh Hader closed out the game for his sixth save in as many opportunities.

Milwaukee is off Thursday before heading to Philadelphia for a weekend series against the Phillies.
