Arthdal Chronicles Season 2 is having major cast changes as Song Joong Ki and Kim Jo Won officially dropped out from the much-awaited sequel.
After the production company Studio Dragon officially confirmed the production for the second season, the team is gearing up by completing the cast lineup, starting with new lead stars.
Lee Joon Gi, Shin Se Kyung To Possibly Replace Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won in Arthdal Chronicles Season 2
Intending to start filming this 2022, various media outlets revealed the names of stars who might take over the characters of Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won.
Per Soompi, industry representatives cited Lee Joon Gi, and Shin Se Kyung are offered to play the main characters of Arthdal Chronicles Season 2.
To recall, the Vincenzo star played the role of Eun Seom while Kim Ji Won took on the character of Tan Ya.
Meanwhile, Lee Joon Gi’s agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed that they have received the offer for the 40-year-old actor to headline the upcoming series and is positively considering appearing in the K-drama, saying “‘Arthdal Chronicles 2’ is one of the projects he’s reviewing.”
The same goes for the actress who shared the news through her agency EDAM Entertainment, stating that “Shin Se Kyung received an offer to star in the second season and is reviewing it. It hasn’t been confirmed whether she will appear in it or not.”
On the other hand, a local outlet shared that Jang Dong Gun, one of the lead stars in season 1, will reprise his role as Tan Gon.

Why Did Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won Drop Out from Arthdal Chronicles Season 2?
Following the update regarding the new lead stars of Arthdal Chronicles Season 2, Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won decided to withdraw from the K-drama because of conflict with their schedules.
As some would know, the Hallyu actor will join the main cast of the revenge K-drama The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate with Shin Hyun Bin and Juvenile Justice star Lee Sung Min.
In addition, he is also headlining the Bogotá: City of the Lost cast alongside Lee hee Joon, Ryu Seung Beom, Jo Hyun Chul and Colombian actress Juana del Río.
While Song Joong KI is jam-packed with back-to-back projects this year, Kim Ji Won is currently starring in her K-drama comeback, My Liberation Notes with Lee Min Ki, Lee El and Son Seok Koo.
