BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) —
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin announced Wednesday he would pardon closed minor marijuana convictions that occurred from April 20, 2021 until December 31, 2021.

Mayor Woodfin said the pardons are a continuation of what he started last year which included pardoning more than 15,000 people convicted of simple possession of marijuana.

In a video posted on Twitter, Mayor Woodfin encouraged other Alabama mayors to make similar pardons to give people a "second chance."
Mayor Woodfin ended the video by asking that those in the state and federal government work to legalize marijuana.
