Pike County considering couple of byway designations

A move is underway to create a pair of scenic byway routes in Pike County.  At this week’s quorum court meeting, Jonathan Lance with the Advertising and Tourism Committee of the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce, spoke to j.p.’s regarding the highway designations.  One proposed route is a 24 mile loop to be designated as the Glen Campbell Scenic Byway.  The other route would span across six counties and be named the Arkansas Rocks, Mining and Mineral Trail.

Lance told the quorum court the designations would bring additional tourism to the area and promote other business growth.  As part of the process, Lance said committees, consisting of the county judge, mayor, quorum court and city council members would need to be formed.

Planning resolutions for the scenic byway designations will be presented at next month’s quorum court meeting.
