Memphis native, former big leaguer and now manager of the Memphis Redbirds, Ben Johnson, is my guest today. He grew up a Cardinals fan and is now developing their top level talent for the St. Louis triple-A affiliate team. He tells stories of playing catch with Ozzie Smith, going to games at Tim McCarver stadium, playing in the minors with Pujols and his team this year. He says it’s challenging to find at bats for everybody because there’s so much talent. He calls Gorman and Yepez natural-born hitters and not far from the majors. It’s just a matter of time before Gorman is playing second in the big leagues. The Redbirds pitching isn’t as tight as the hitting is and Ben notes their plan to clean that up.
